Getting Started: Resellers Checklist
|
Getting started as a reseller is a simple process, but there are a number of steps to ensure you get the required degree of customisation. This article aims to give you an overview/checklist to make sure you get started as smoothly as possible reselling your first domain. It refers to other KB articles for the detailed steps to take at each stage.
Adding your first Resold Client
1. If you haven't already done so, order a 'Reseller' plan for yourself. This will give you the 'Add Domain' option in your control panel which allows you to resell.
2. (optional). If you want to have that extra degree of anonymity from wrchosting you can set up virtual nameservers (What is a Virtual Nameserver?). See the article: How do I set up my Virtual Nameservers? for detailed instructions.
3. Order your first resold domain using the 'Add Domain' option. See the article: How do I sign up a resold client? for detailed instructions.
4. Customise your resold clients control panel to match the look and feel/branding of your site. See the article: How can I customise my Resold Control Panels? for detailed instructions.
NOTE: as a minimum, change the title from the wrchosting logo!
5. (optional) If using virtual nameservers, add your newly resold client to your virtual nameservers. See the article: How do I add a client to my Virtual Nameserver? for detailed instructions.
6. (optional) If you like, you can go into the resold control panel and edit the default index.html page to include a 'hosted by...your company' message or similar.
7. Make your own welcome letter and cut and paste the account information from the welcome letter we send you for the resold account.
NOTE: If using virtual nameservers, don't forget to give the client YOUR nameserver details, not ours.
8. When you are happy, send your client the welcome letter!
For the second and further resold clients the process is even simpler...
1. Order the resold domain using the 'Add Domain' option. See the article: How do I sign up a resold client? for detailed instructions.
2. (optional) If using virtual nameservers, add your newly resold client to your virtual nameservers. See the article: How do I add a client to my Virtual Nameserver? for detailed instructions.
3. (optional) If you like, you can go into the resold control panel and edit the default index.html page to include a 'hosted by...your company' message or similar.
4. Cut and paste the account information from the welcome letter we send you for the resold account into your custom welcome letter.
NOTE: If using virtual nameservers, don't forget to give the client YOUR nameserver details, not ours.
5. When you are happy, send your client the welcome letter!
